The U.K. is a unitary government. The leaders of this constitutional monarchy is Queen Elizabeth II and David William Robert Cameron who is Prime minister, First Lord of the Treasury, and Minister for the Civil Service. The branches of the government go in the order of Monarch, Executive, Government Department, Legislative which is Parliament consists of the House of Lords and the House of Commons, and then the Judiciary branch. The House of Lords is above the House of Commons. Some of the members are committed for their whole lives. The regional governments in the U.K. have little power to implement. England has 27 two-tier counties, 32 London boroughs and one city of London or Greater London, 36 metropolitan districts, 56 unitary authorities that include 4 single- tier counties. Northern Ireland is more simple and has 26 district council areas, Scotland has 32 district council areas, and Wales has 22 unitary authorities. The government within the country is run by the main legislative body which is the House of Commons. The members in the House of Commons get elected every 5 years. The Queen is technically the leader of the government but has no real political power. The members of the House of Lords has an affect in the state since most of the members are leaders of a Catholic Church. The other members can serve for life. The chamber leader for this house sends troublesome legislation back to the House of Commons. After the election the political party that wins gets to control the government. The leader of this party becomes the prime minister and there is no limit to the amount of terms the prime minister can serve. Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have governments of their own but they have limited power so they can only deal with topics such as health and education.
